Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI is facing a fresh wave of leaks just days before its planned extended preview on Netflix.
Netflix is scheduled to premiere “Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look” on August 27, giving fans an official extended glimpse of the long-awaited game. Netflix says the special is part of a first-of-its-kind partnership with Rockstar Games.
However, several videos claiming to show GTA 6 gameplay have appeared online ahead of the presentation. Reports say the footage includes scenes involving protagonist Jason Duval, driving, combat and other activities in the game’s fictional state of Leonida.
A complete map of Leonida has also reportedly surfaced online, alongside additional gameplay clips. Rockstar and its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have not publicly confirmed the authenticity of every leaked item.
The leaks have nevertheless prompted legal action. Take-Two has reportedly issued subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord seeking information that could help identify people responsible for distributing the material.
The timing could prove particularly frustrating for Rockstar, as the company prepares to showcase the game officially on Netflix. The leaks risk revealing gameplay details that the studio had intended to unveil for the first time during its highly anticipated presentation.
Despite the disruption, anticipation for GTA 6 remains enormous. The game is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
For millions of fans, the big question now is whether Rockstar’s official Netflix presentation will still contain major surprises — or whether the recent leaks have already given too much away.
