Ukraine Launches Massive Drone Attack on Moscow Region

MOSCOW — Ukraine has launched one of its largest drone attacks on Russia, with Russian authorities reporting that hundreds of Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said 822 Ukrainian drones were shot down across the country, including around 600 in the Moscow region. Russian officials said the attacks caused deaths and damage in several areas.

A drone strike also caused a major fire at a large Wildberries warehouse near Moscow, according to reports. Authorities said emergency crews were deployed to deal with the blaze.

At least six people were reported killed in the wider attacks, including an elderly man in the Moscow region and five people in Russia’s Rostov region, according to Russian officials.

The attacks came as Russia continued its own aerial strikes against Ukraine. Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv caused fires and injured several people, Ukrainian officials said.

The latest escalation comes as the war continues to intensify, with both sides increasingly using long-range drones and missiles to strike targets far from the front lines.
