The United States carried out a seventh straight night of military strikes on Iran after President Donald Trump declared that the temporary ceasefire agreement had ended. According to U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation targeted surveillance facilities, military logistics networks, underground weapons depots, and maritime assets.
Iran responded by launching attacks against U.S. allies in the region, including Kuwait. Kuwaiti authorities said another power and water desalination plant was struck, causing a fire and forcing some electricity generation units to shut down. Jordan reported intercepting 10 Iranian missiles that entered its airspace, while Bahrain said its air defence systems successfully blocked incoming attacks.
CENTCOM said the operation concluded at 9:30 p.m. ET and involved fighter jets, drones, warships, and other military assets. Iranian state media also reported explosions in the city of Yazd, on Qeshm Island, and near the strategic port of Bandar Abbas along the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. and Iran had previously agreed to a ceasefire in June to allow peace negotiations. Although the truce initially held, tensions rose after Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and subsequent U.S. retaliatory strikes. With negotiations making little progress, Trump announced that the ceasefire was over. Since then, the U.S. has resumed strikes on Iranian targets and reimposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports, further escalating the conflict.
